Week 2

Derek wins for the second week in a row -- an outright victory this week -- and finds himself two wins clear in the overall standings. No single pick stands out, rather a solid performance across the board.

Scott Ward gets special mention for being the only one to take the Seahawks over the Falcons. Those of us in Buffalo are now wondering if Vick will play this weekend at the Ralph. I for one am torn between wanting him to play so I can see him (the only other time I saw him play for for a half in the Orange Bowl against the Canes before he got injured -- Miami killed V-Tech that day) and wanting him to be hurt to improve the Bills chances. Though the Bills defense is good enough to control him, the offense is just awful. For 55 minutes last night I thought, at least it's not as bad as Washington's, but after their dramatic comeback against the hated Cowboys I'm not so sure.

Many of us missed several of the same games, lacking faith in the aforementioned Skins, Broncos, Panthers and Bears (you should be ashamed, Flood).

Lock of the Week starts 0-1. Of course since I have been in the cellar both weeks I shouldn't be too surprised. Apparently sleep deprivation and worrying about your struggling Fantasy Baseball teams doesn't help. Of course maybe I should be like the Saints and stop making excuses. Apparently I missed the memo that the Raiders aren't very good. Or the Chiefs are. See, I still don't know why I was wrong.

But at least the Panthers made my Super Bowl picks look a bit more promising.

Some things we now know:
Minnesota fans should feel like Renee Zellwegger does -- Mike Tice and the Vikings are a fraud.

Carson Palmer should no longer be confused with Carson Daly.

Parity is back -- after two games only six teams are 2-0.

Santana Moss is fast.

Brett Favre regrets not retiring.

The Redskins would undefeated if they could play all their games Monday Nights because Joe Gibbs isn't distracted by Tony Stewart and his NASCAR Team being piped into his headset on the sidelines. Actually the Redskins didn't play well until Tuesday morning. I was watching Letterman at the time.

Some things we don't know:

How Matt Millen still has a job.

Why we drafted David Carr as our fantasy QB.

If Arizona goes 0-2, does anyone notice.

The last time the Colts won because of their defense.

Some intriguing games this week. When was the last time Brett Favre was a home dog?

Steelers vs. Patriots -- could the Pats lose two in a row? What would that do to Tom Brady's Q-rating? Will Jeff hang himself if the Pats lost again and the Sox gave up the American League East lead in the same week?

Lock of the Week will put it's (figurative) money where it's mouth is and take the Nomadic Saints getting 3.5 at Minnesota.

Make it a good week.

I would note that the Pats surived the Steel City (although the loss of Harrison and (maybe) Light) will make this year much tougher. And the Sox (for now) are still in it. Why do I think the Indians will be the one to blink and the Sox and Yanks will both make it in?
